Restoration Information

Restoration Mandate

It is our intention to preserve and restore KB882 as close as possible to the condition it was in when struck off strength from the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1964.  Although our Lancaster is only 1 of 4 with bona fide WW2 operational sorties on her logs, it went on to serve Canada for nearly twelve additional years in its current configuration.

This makes KB882 one of only two Avro Lancasters in the world wearing correct post WW2 markings and equipment.  The other Lancaster under restoration to post war configuration is located in France, having served with the French Navy.  Many of the remaining aircraft have been restored to represent Bomber Command operational aircraft when in fact they saw no WW2 service.  We have decided to acknowledge KB882's history during the Second World War and also recognize its contributions to Canadian mapping and Arctic Sovereignty during the Cold War.

Eventually, this Lancaster will be inside a hangar so that NA-R / KB882 will stand as a memorial to all of our WW2 Veterans and to those who served during peace time.

I am currently searching for former RCAF Post-War Lancaster Squadron crews (103, 107, 404, 405, 407, 408 and 413) to collect information, photographs, stories and other documentation. Please contact me by clicking here.
